Therapy for Pregnancy and Postpartum Depression and Anxiety
Some postpartum moms with new babies have feelings about motherhood that don’t seem “right.” Hormone changes, personal and family history, and changes in daily routines and responsibilities in caring for a new baby can cause depression, fears and intense stress.
Common postpartum symptoms include:
- Feeling overwhelmed and wondering if you should have become a mother in the first place
- Feeling guilty due to high self-expectations
- Not feeling “bonded” with the baby
- Racing thoughts with an inability to quiet your mind
- Feeling empty and numb as if you’re just going through the motions
- Lack of focus or concentration
- Being afraid that if you reach out for help you will be judged
- Thoughts of running away or leaving your baby behind
- Frequent worried or scary thoughts
Our therapists have specialized training to help you understand what you are experiencing, and what steps can help alleviate postpartum symptoms.
